The effect of metformin when combined with neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer patients

Summary: Metformin was evaluated for its effect on pathological response in breast cancer patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The results showed no significant difference in pathological complete response rate between the group receiving Metformin and the group without Metformin, but a lower proportion of patients in the Metformin group had a high residual cancer burden score. The study suggests that Metformin may increase pathological complete response, especially in patients with a BMI >= 25 and patients with triple-positive histology.

Summary: Ultrasound-induced sonodynamic therapy (SDT) combined with multifunctional nanoreactor MPG showed enhanced tumor treatment effectiveness through a series of cascade reactions, including chemodynamic therapy (CDT), relieving hypoxia in TME, GO(x) catalysis-enhanced CDT, and efficient SDT. This work broadens the application prospects of porous materials in biomedical research.

Hyperbaric oxygen regulates tumor microenvironment and boosts commercialized nanomedicine delivery for potent eradication of cancer stem-like cells

Summary: This study demonstrated for the first time the successful combination of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy with commercialized nanomedicines in eliminating cancer stem-like cells (CSCs) in solid tumors, showing efficient anticancer effects in treating tumors such as triple negative breast cancer and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.

Single injection and multiple treatments: An injectable nanozyme hydrogel as AIEgen reservoir and release controller for efficient tumor therapy

Summary: The ARC system developed in this study converts near-infrared laser into heat, releases AIEgens, drives the decomposition of endogenous hydrogen peroxide, generates sufficient oxygen for high levels of reactive oxygen species to induce tumor cell cytotoxicity, and the hydrogel can persist for at least 48 hours, supporting multiple rounds of treatment.

Inhibition of hypoxia-inducible factor-2α in renal cell carcinoma with belzutifan: a phase 1 trial and biomarker analysis

Summary: The HIF-2 alpha inhibitor belzutifan shows promising clinical activity and a favorable safety profile in heavily pre-treated patients with renal cell carcinoma, suggesting it may offer an effective treatment option. The drug was well tolerated with a confirmed objective response rate of 25% and a median progression-free survival of 14.5 months in patients with ccRCC.
