Magnetic and Optical Field Multi-Assisted Li-O2 Batteries with Ultrahigh Energy Efficiency and Cycle Stability

Xiao-Xue Wang et al.

Summary: The study developed a new magnetic and optical field multi-assisted Li-O-2 battery by adding 3D porous NiO nanosheets to the photoelectrode, effectively reducing the overpotential in Li-O-2 batteries. Under illumination, the generated electrons and holes played a key role in reducing the overpotential during discharging and charging. The introduction of an external magnetic field suppressed charge carrier recombination. This technology provides a new approach to developing high-performance Li-O-2 batteries and other energy storage systems.

Semiconducting Metal-Organic Polymer Nanosheets for a Photoinvolved Li-O2 Battery under Visible Light

Qingliang Lv et al.

Summary: Li-O-2 batteries are considered as the ultimate energy storage technology with the potential to store large amounts of electrical energy. Catalytic intervention, particularly involving cobalt-tetramino-benzoquinone (Co-TABQ) nanosheets, plays a crucial role in improving the reversibility and kinetics of cathode reactions. Orbital interactions of metal ions with ligands in Co-TABQ nanosheets are critical for light harvesting and oxygen electrocatalysis in Li-O-2 batteries.

An oxygen-blocking oriented multifunctional solid-electrolyte interphase as a protective layer for a lithium metal anode in lithium-oxygen batteries

Xiao-Dong Lin et al.

Summary: This study combines electrochemical polishing technology with LiNO3 reduction chemistry to construct a stable and molecularly smooth SEI on the Li metal surface, with a unique multi-layered structure encapsulating soluble NO2- species. This SEI film not only prevents negative effects from NO2- dissolution, but also effectively suppresses dendrite growth and O-2 permeation on the Li surface, substantially improving the cycle lives of O-2-saturated symmetric Li cells and Li-O-2 batteries. The work provides an effective strategy to protect Li metal anodes and offers novel insights into rational electrolyte additive utilization.
