ZnO-POM Cluster Sub-1 nm Nanosheets as Robust Catalysts for the Oxidation of Thioethers at Room Temperature

Junli Liu et al.

Summary: A versatile strategy was developed to prepare ZnO-POM-based 2D hybrid sub-1 nm nanosheets by incorporating three kinds of molybdenum-based POM clusters into the zinc oxide system. Molecular dynamics simulation results showed that the POM clusters interacted with ZnO/Zn(OH)(2) molecules to form stable 2D nanostructures. These materials exhibited excellent catalytic performance due to their large specific surface areas and the synergistic effect of multiple components.

Super-aligned films of sub-1 nm Bi2O3-polyoxometalate nanowires as interlayers in lithium-sulfur batteries

Simin Zhang et al.

Summary: Sub-1 nm nanowires (SNWs) possess polymer-analogue properties and can be processed like polymers, while also exhibiting multifunctions due to their well-manipulated compositions and structures. Well-designed multicomponent heterostructure SNWs can enhance their multifunction performance, but achieving such SNWs at sub-nanoscale is challenging. This study demonstrates the potential of heterostructure SNWs to improve the performance of Li-S batteries.

Proton-Conducting Polyoxometalates as Redox Electrolytes Synergistically Boosting the Performance of Self-Healing Solid-State Supercapacitors with Polyaniline

Dongming Cheng et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the use of polyoxometalates as electrolytes to enhance the capacitance of solid-state supercapacitors, showcasing pseudocapacitance and self-healing ability. By incorporating redox-active molecules, the largest capacitance achieved was 7.69 F/cm(2) (3840 F/g) based on a single electrode at 0.5 mA/cm(2). The potential of this strategy for other energy storage devices was also highlighted in this research.
