Influence of arbuscular mycorrhiza fungi and drought stress on fatty acids profile of sesame (Sesamum indicum L.)

Esmaeil Gholinezhad et al.

Summary: Research has shown that inoculating AMF can increase sesame's tolerance to drought stress, improve yield, and enhance oil compositions. Severe drought stress significantly reduces yield and some nutrients content, but significantly increases the content of other substances. Overall, inoculating AMF is feasible for improving both the quantity and quality traits of sesame.

Essential Oils as Natural Sources of Fragrance Compounds for Cosmetics and Cosmeceuticals

Jugreet B. Sharmeen et al.

Summary: Fragrances are essential in cosmetic products, masking undesirable smells and providing benefits to the skin as preservatives and active agents. The demand for natural ingredients has led to an increased interest in plant derivatives like essential oils, with popular cosmetic companies endorsing natural fragrances. This review highlights the versatility of essential oils in cosmetics and the importance of considering authenticity and safety in their use.

Arbuscular Mycorrhiza Improves Photosynthesis and Restores Alteration in Sugar Metabolism in Triticum aestivum L. Grown in Arsenic Contaminated Soil

Samta Gupta et al.

Summary: This study investigated the ability of an AM fungus, Rhizophagus intraradices, to mitigate arsenic-induced negative effects on photosynthesis and sugar metabolism in wheat plants. The results showed that AM symbiosis not only promoted plant growth but also restored arsenic-mediated impairments in plant physiology, improving photosynthetic pigments, gas exchange parameters, and sugar metabolism. Overall, the study highlights the potential of R. intraradices in alleviating arsenic-induced physiological disturbances in wheat plants.
