A global model of the magnetorotational instability in protoneutron stars

A. Reboul-Salze et al.

Summary: The study investigates the MRI dynamo in a global model of a fast rotating protoneutron star and finds that the MRI can generate a strong magnetic field, predicting the presence of a stronger small-scale magnetic field. Comparing local and global simulations, it is shown that local models can reproduce several characteristics of global MRI turbulence, with the turbulence being more vigorous in the local models.

Gravitational-wave signals from 3D supernova simulations with different neutrino-transport methods

H. Andresen et al.

Summary: The study compares gravitational-wave signals from core-collapse supernova simulations using different progenitors, finding that both numerical resolution and neutrino transport methods have significant impacts on the signals. However, resolution-dependent differences in the hydrodynamic behavior of models have a greater impact on the signals than consequences of different transport methods. Increasing resolution can reduce discrepancies between models with different neutrino transport.

Characteristic time variability of gravitational-wave and neutrino signals from three-dimensional simulations of non-rotating and rapidly rotating stellar core collapse

Shota Shibagaki et al.

Summary: Through 3D hydrodynamics simulations, the impact of rotation on the instabilities during the stellar core collapse of a 70 solar mass star was investigated. Results showed that rotation can trigger different forms of instabilities, and these signals can be observed and studied through the time correlation between gravitational waves and neutrinos.

Stellar Mass Black Hole Formation and Multimessenger Signals from Three-dimensional Rotating Core-collapse Supernova Simulations

Kuo-Chuan Pan et al.

Summary: The study investigates the impact of different rotation speeds on supernova models, finding that rapidly rotating models undergo early explosions without black hole formation, while nonrotating and slowly rotating models form black holes at later times.

The electron-capture origin of supernova 2018zd

Daichi Hiramatsu et al.

Summary: In the transitional mass range, stars are expected to produce electron-capture supernovae. This study presents six indicators for electron-capture supernovae, with supernova 2018zd being the only known one with strong evidence for all six indicators. The identification of this supernova provides insights into complex stellar evolution, supernova physics, cosmic nucleosynthesis, and remnant populations.

Inference of protoneutron star properties from gravitational-wave data in core-collapse supernovae

Marie-Anne Bizouard et al.

Summary: This paper presents a parameter estimation approach based on gravitational waves associated with protoneutron star oscillations, which can be used to infer source parameters of supernova gravitational wave signals. Research shows that buoyancy-driven g modes play a significant role in the gravitational wave signal, and can be linked to the properties of the protoneutron star through a developed model.
