Gaia Early Data Release 3 The astrometric solution

L. Lindegren et al.

Summary: Gaia EDR3 provides full astrometric data for 1.468 billion sources, including 585 million with five-parameter solutions and 882 million with six parameters, as well as mean positions at J2016.0 for an additional 344 million sources. Five-parameter solutions are generally more accurate and available for 93% of sources brighter than the 17th magnitude, with median uncertainties of 0.02-0.03 mas for parallax and proper motion at G = 9-14, and around 0.5 mas at G = 20. Extensive characterization of the solutions' statistical properties is provided, including the estimated angular power spectrum of parallax bias from quasars.

Gaia Early Data Release 3: Photometric content and validation

M. Riello et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on the photometric content in Gaia Early Data Release 3 (Gaia EDR3), describing the input data, algorithms, processing, and validation of results. Significant improvements were made in the processing, particularly in the preprocessing and calibration of blue and red photometer data. The overall quality of calibrated mean photometry in Gaia EDR3 is superior to DR2 for all bands.

Gaia Early Data Release 3 Summary of the contents and survey properties

A. G. A. Brown et al.

Summary: Gaia EDR3 is the early installment of the third data release from the Gaia project, providing astrometry and photometry for 1.8 billion sources brighter than magnitude 21, along with radial velocities from Gaia DR2. The data processing precision and homogeneity have significantly improved compared to the previous version, with additional information on celestial bodies and an updated celestial reference frame.

The GALAH plus survey: Third data release

Sven Buder et al.

Summary: This study presents the chemical element abundance measurements and orbit properties of stars in the Milky Way, providing crucial data for understanding the evolution of our galaxy. Utilizing multiple observation instruments, the research team derived abundance ratios and stellar parameters, validating and analyzing the results to study stellar ages and dynamics. This comprehensive data release enables further chrono-chemodynamic analyses and showcases the advancements made in understanding the Milky Way's evolution.

Chronologically dating the early assembly of the Milky Way

Josefina Montalban et al.

Summary: Using asteroseismology, kinematics, and chemical abundances, precise stellar ages have been estimated for a sample of stars observed by the Kepler space mission. This sample includes some of the oldest stars formed inside the Galaxy as well as stars formed externally and subsequently accreted onto the Milky Way. This provides compelling evidence in favor of models suggesting the Galaxy already had a substantial population of stars before the infall of the satellite galaxy Gaia-Enceladus/Sausage around 10 billion years ago.

Light Elements in the Universe

Sofia Randich et al.

Summary: Light elements such as lithium, beryllium, and boron, as well as carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen, play a crucial role in investigating various issues in modern astrophysics. Precise measurements of these elements are challenging, but advances in instrumentation have allowed for high-quality abundance determinations in stars of different types, providing new insights and raising new questions. Opportunities for further advancement in understanding light-element patterns and evolution in the Universe are on the horizon with the development of new generation instrumentation.

Elevated r-process Enrichment in Gaia Sausage and Sequoia*

David S. Aguado et al.

Summary: The Gaia Sausage and the Sequoia are crucial for understanding the formation of the stellar halo of the Milky Way, with their chemical analysis revealing insights into the early stages of the Galaxy's assembly. The study shows a clear enhancement in europium abundance, indicating a prevalent presence of the r-process in the stellar neutron-capture makeup, as well as distinct sequences in the barium to europium changes at different iron abundances.
