The black hole transient MAXI J1348-630: evolution of the compact and transient jets during its 2019/2020 outburst

F. Carotenuto et al.

Summary: The study presents a 14-month radio and X-ray monitoring campaign of the 2019/2020 outburst of the new black hole X-ray binary, MAXI J1348-630. The evolution of compact and transient jets were detected and tracked during the outburst, with the observation of multiple re-flare events and the launch of two single-sided ejecta with high proper motion. The characteristics of the ejecta, including inclination, speed, and expansion, provided insights into the environment surrounding the black hole, suggesting a possible location inside a low-density cavity in the interstellar medium.

NuSTAR monitoring of MAXI J1348-630: evidence of high density disc reflection

Sudip Chakraborty et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the broad-band spectral of all six NuSTAR observations of MAXI J1348-630 during its first outburst in 2019, finding that a simple model scheme was inadequate and exploring the possibility of high-density disc reflection using two different sets of models. The REFLIONX-based high-density disc reflection models lowered the iron abundance to around the solar value, with evidence of high-velocity outflow. Consistency in best-fitting parameters for different epochs and statistical significance of the model indicated the presence of high-density disc reflection in MAXI J1348-630.

Measuring the distance to the black hole candidate X-ray binary MAXI J1348-630 using HI absorption

J. Chauhan et al.

Summary: The neutral hydrogen absorption spectra of black hole candidate X-ray binary MAXI J1348-630 were presented using ASKAP and MeerKAT. The most probable distance and Eddington luminosity percentage were determined for MAXI J1348-630. The MeerKAT spectrum was consistent with the re-binned ASKAP spectrum, showcasing its potential for XRB spectral line studies.
