Cavity-shaped ligands for asymmetric metal catalysis

Zeyneb Kaya et al.

Summary: Cavity-shaped ligands can act as containers for metal centers, influencing the coordination sphere of metals, particularly in asymmetric metal catalysis. The spatial control around the coordinated substrate is crucial for achieving high ee values in asymmetric metal-catalyzed reactions. Various approaches, both covalent and supramolecular, have been used to achieve enantiodiscrimination in these reactions by metal complexation within or near chiral capsular environments.

Ultrasound assisted synthesis of Pd NPs decorated chitosan-starch functionalized Fe3O4 nanocomposite catalyst towards Suzuki-Miyaura coupling and reduction of 4-nitrophenol

Hojat Veisi et al.

Summary: Recent advancements in nanomagnetic biocomposites as sustainable green catalysts have led to the design and synthesis of a novel Pd NP adorned chitosan-starch dual biopolymer encapsulated core-shell type magnetic nanocomposite. This material showed excellent catalytic efficiency in Suzuki-Miyaura coupling and catalytic reduction processes, with sonication playing a key role in enhancing catalytic performance. Additionally, the material's super-paramagnetism allowed for easy magnetic isolation and reuse in multiple cycles without significant leaching or loss in reactivity.
