Transferrin-functionalized liposomes for docetaxel delivery to prostate cancer cells

Mariza Aires Fernandes et al.

Summary: This study investigated the delivery of docetaxel to prostate cancer cells using transferrin-functionalized liposomes. Results showed that these systems had small and stable size, with higher toxicity towards PC-3 cells. Confocal microscopy confirmed successful internalization of functionalized liposomes in PC-3 cells, while interaction with transferrin receptors was further validated using Quartz Crystal Microbalance with Dissipation technology. Further studies are needed to explore the potential of these systems in three-dimensional cell models and in vivo xenograft studies.

Advances in biological nano-phospholipid vesicles for transdermal delivery: A review on applications

Mona Sadat Mirtaleb et al.

Summary: Many biological molecules are delivered through the skin for disease treatment, and the use of phospholipid nanocarriers is considered a tool to enhance transdermal drug delivery quality. Liposomes, a type of phospholipid nanocarrier, are recognized for their ability to deliver drugs, with engineered liposomes designed to improve upon conventional ones. These nanocarriers facilitate drug molecule passage through skin layers and preserve their biological properties. Studies on modified liposomes for dermal and transdermal drug delivery are presented in this review.
