Enhanced Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction Activity over NH2-MIL-125(Ti) by Facet Regulation

Xiao-Mei Cheng et al.

Summary: The study investigated the facet effect of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) on photocatalytic processes by synthesizing NH2-MIL-125(Ti) with different ratios of {001} and {111} facets. It was found that increasing exposed proportion of {111} facets enhanced the activity in photoreduction of CO2. The {111} facets exhibited significantly higher photocatalytic activity and quantum yields compared to the {001} facets, with an important role in inhibiting electron-hole recombination.

Modeling Adsorption and Optical Properties for the Design of CO2 Photocatalytic Metal-Organic Frameworks

Priscila Chacon et al.

Summary: Four Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) were modeled based on IRMOF-1 with various linkers to enhance their photocatalytic properties. Computational modeling using Density Functional Theory (DFT), Time-Dependent Density Functional (TD-DFT) methods, and periodic quantum chemical wave function approach was used to analyze the adsorption properties of H-2, CO2, H2O, and potential CO2 photocatalytic capabilities. The results showed that the proposed linkers significantly improved CO2 adsorption, bulk properties, and optical properties compared to IRMOF-1 alone.
