Molecular dynamics simulation on explosive boiling of thin liquid argon films on cone-shaped Al-Cu-based nanostructures

Ali Qasemian et al.

Summary: The study found that using cone-shaped nanostructured surfaces can create thinner liquid primary layers, increase heat transfer rates, and promote faster evaporation of liquid layers. Cu nanostructures are more effective in enhancing explosive boiling compared to Al nanostructures. Using Al and Cu cone-shaped nanostructures on an Al smooth surface can increase heat transfer rates by 29% and 38.7% respectively.

Molecular dynamics simulation of the roles of roughness ratio and surface potential energy in explosive boiling

Pu Bai et al.

Summary: This research investigates the effect of surface roughness on explosive boiling and heat transfer in water film over copper surfaces with nanochannels. It is found that increasing channel height can promote boiling onset time, increase temperature and heat flux, and reduce interfacial thermal resistance. However, increasing roughness ratio by reducing channel spacing has both promotion and weakening effects on heat transfer. The study also proposes a critical channel spacing for enhancing heat transfer by increasing surface potential energy.
