Optimisation using the finite element method of a filter-based microfluidic SERS sensor for detection of multiple pesticides in strawberry

Sara Asgari et al.

Summary: This study developed an in-field analytical technique for food samples by integrating filtration into a surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) microchip. The filter membrane embedded in the microchip helped eliminate interfering particulates and enrich target analytes, showing good sensitivity and selectivity for the detection and quantification of multiple target analytes in complex food samples. High recoveries and limits of detection were achieved for the four pesticides in strawberry extract, proving the effectiveness of this filter-based SERS microchip sensor.
