Investigation of biosurfactants produced by three indigenous bacterial strains, their growth kinetics and their anthracene and fluorene tolerance

Madhurya Ray et al.

Summary: This study isolated three bacterial species capable of producing biosurfactants from contaminated sites in Haldia, India, and found that they exhibit high tolerance to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. The produced biosurfactants were stable under a wide range of temperature, pH, and salinity conditions. The findings suggest that these indigenous biosurfactant producing strains can be utilized for bioremediation purposes in environments with high PAH concentrations.

A comprehensive feasibility study of effectiveness and environmental impact of PAH bioremediation using an indigenous microbial degrader consortium and a novel strain Stenotrophomonas maltophilia CPHE1 isolated from an industrial polluted soil

Alba Lara-Moreno et al.

Summary: Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) are major toxic and recalcitrant pollutants in the environment. This study found that an isolated soil microbial consortium was able to effectively biodegrade PAHs, with a newly discovered strain, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia CPHE1, showing promising results in degrading specific PAHs and reducing solution toxicity.

Application of integrated extremophilic (halo-alkalo-thermophilic) bacterial consortium in the degradation of petroleum hydrocarbons and treatment of petroleum refinery wastewater under extreme condition

Bandar A. Al-Mur et al.

Summary: The extremophilic bacterial consortium exhibited efficient degradation of various types of petroleum hydrocarbons, both low molecular weight and high molecular weight, under optimized extreme conditions. Additionally, the biodegradation process was significantly accelerated with the addition of yeast extract.
