Summary: This study demonstrated the crucial role of glutathione-dependent enzymes in root nodule formation and nitrogen fixation, as deficiency of these enzymes led to nodulation defects and reduced nitrogen fixation capacity. In addition, quantitative proteomics revealed the direct involvement of some down-regulated proteins in the nodulation process.
