A mesh stiffness method using slice coupling for spur gear pairs with misalignment and lead crown relief

Qibin Wang et al.

Summary: A mesh stiffness model for spur gear pairs with misalignment and lead crown relief is proposed, with slice coupling effect presented and validated for its accuracy and effectiveness. Consideration of slice coupling is recommended in mesh stiffness calculation for gear pairs with misalignment and lead crown relief.

A variable positive-negative stiffness joint with low frequency vibration isolation performance

Renzhen Chen et al.

Summary: The newly proposed vibration isolation joint combines positive and negative stiffness, supports multi-directional stiffness adjustment, and changes structural stiffness by altering the effective length of the beam. It provides good passive low-frequency vibration isolation performance and enables active control of ultra-low frequency vibration isolation by actively changing the structural stiffness.

Friction modeling and compensation for haptic master manipulator based on deep Gaussian process

Ai Dong et al.

Summary: This paper investigates friction modeling and compensation for haptic master manipulator in a robot-assisted minimally invasive surgical system. Based on deep Gaussian process (DGP), the proposed algorithm can accurately predict and compensate friction without the need for explicit friction models, thus overcoming drawbacks associated with model-based methods. Through implicit posterior variational inference, the algorithm can effectively handle parametric uncertainty in the dynamics of the haptic master manipulator, demonstrating superior performance in representing and compensating friction effects compared to existing alternatives.

An investigation of a novel LuGre-based friction force model

Filipe Marques et al.

Summary: The LuGre friction force models are popular for treating frictional contact in mechanical systems, but may have numerical difficulties with significant variations in normal loads. This study presents a new investigation based on LuGre friction foundation to overcome these limitations, including a stiffness coefficient to accommodate normal contact force variations. Numerical application examples are provided to compare and examine the advantages and potentials of the original, amended, and proposed models.

Model of positioning objects by the system of oblique friction force fields on horizontal and vertically offset planes

T. Piatkowski et al.

Summary: This paper presents a model for the angular positioning of cuboidal objects using two oblique friction force fields, and describes the motion and contact of the objects with the bearing surfaces. The use of friction force fields with a vertical offset is shown to enhance the rotation angle minimization of the positioned object through numerical and experimental research.

Control Method of Flexible Manipulator Servo System Based on a Combination of RBF Neural Network and Pole Placement Strategy

Dongyang Shang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the rotation angle fluctuations in the servo system of flexible manipulators and proposes a control method combining RBF neural network and pole placement strategy to suppress the fluctuations. The proposed method effectively reduces the rotation angle error and improves motion accuracy.

Design and optimisation of load-adaptive actuator with variable stiffness for compact ankle exoskeleton

Yixin Shao et al.

Summary: A novel load-adaptive actuator with variable stiffness has been proposed to enhance the energy efficiency of ankle exoskeletons. This actuator adjusts the stiffness of the exoskeleton based on external load and joint angle through an inverted slider-crank mechanism, improving energy efficiency during load and angle variations.
