Impregnation of pins with adhesive significantly increased the shear strength of lap shear specimens, as shown by the results of this investigation.
The paper illustrates the effect of applying an adhesive to pins on the mechanical properties of z-pinned joints. Three types of lap shear specimens were made for this investigation. Their mechanical properties were determined and compared. Results showed that the impregnation of pins significantly increased the shear strength of lap shear specimens.
