Effect of micro-alloying element Ti on mechanical properties of Cu-Cr alloy

Huaichao Peng et al.

Summary: After aging treatment, the mechanical properties and microstructure of Cu-Cr and Cu-Cr-Ti alloys were improved significantly, with enhanced hardness, yield strength, and softening temperature. The strengthening mechanism of Cr precipitates was identified as the Orowan strengthening relation, contributing to the high dislocation density observed in the Cu-Cr-Ti alloy matrix. Dislocation strengthening, solid-solution strengthening, and precipitate strengthening were found to remarkably enhance the yield strength.

The evolution of microstructure and properties of a Cu-Ti-Cr-Mg-Si alloy with high strength during the multi-stage thermomechanical treatment

Xu Wang et al.

Summary: A Cu-Ti-Cr-Mg-Si alloy with super-high strength and high electrical conductivity was designed, and the multi-stage thermomechanical treatment significantly improved its mechanical and electrical properties. The high strength of the alloy was attributed to precipitation strengthening, sub-structure strengthening, solid solution strengthening, and work hardening, while the electrical conductivity increased during aging due to the decomposition of supersaturated solid solution. Compared with direct aging treatment, the multi-stage thermomechanical treatment with stepped temperature-reduction further enhanced the alloy's mechanical and electrical properties.

Hierarchical microstructures and deformation behavior of laser direct-metal-deposited Cu-Fe alloys

Arya Chatterjee et al.

Summary: Cu25Fe75 and Cu50Fe50 alloys fabricated using laser direct metal deposition exhibit hierarchical microstructures with nanoscale precipitates, showing enhanced flow strengths and significant plasticity in compression. The Cu25Fe75 alloy has lower yield strength but higher maximum compressive strength due to slightly coarser dendrites with nanoscale precipitation hierarchy.

Effect of Mg addition on Fe phase morphology, distribution and aging kinetics of Cu-6.5Fe alloy

Dawei Yuan et al.

Summary: The addition of Mg significantly improved the mechanical properties of the Cu-6.5Fe alloy while slightly reducing its conductivity. Observations and testing of the Cu-6.5Fe-0.3Mg alloy showed that the addition of Mg refined the Fe phase, inhibited dendrite segregation, promoted precipitation of the Fe phase, and effectively inhibited recrystallization of the Cu matrix.

Low-temperature tensile properties of Cu-Fe laminated sheets with various number of layers

Norimitsu Koga et al.

Summary: Cu-Fe laminated sheets with varying numbers of layers were produced by the accumulative roll bonding process, and the effects of layer numbers on microstructure, low-temperature tensile properties, electrical conductivity, and mechanical properties were examined. The increase in layers resulted in a more ductile fracture surface with fine dimples, indicating the strain differences between Cu and Fe layers could be accommodated in the 50-layer sheet. This accommodation may suppress cleavage crack formation in the Fe layers, contributing to the excellent elongation at low temperatures in the Cu-Fe layered sheets.

Micromechanism involved in ultrafine grained ferrite/martensite dual phase steels strengthened by nanoscale Cu-rich precipitates

Xueyun Gao et al.

Summary: In this study, low carbon dual phase steels with ultrafine grains and nanoscale copper rich precipitates were produced by a combination of warm deformation and isothermal aging processes. The results indicate that the formation and compositional evolution of the Cu-rich particles are associated with the mixing enthalpy of alloying elements and the attractive interaction between the solute atoms.

Work hardening behavior of dual phase copper-iron alloy at low temperature

Takayuki Yamashita et al.

Summary: The tensile behavior of a copper-iron alloy was studied at different temperatures, showing an increase in strength and work-hardening rate at low temperatures. The phase stress of Fe significantly increased with decreasing temperature, while the phase stress response of Cu to applied true stress increased with decreasing temperature, indicating an increase in work-hardening rate. The strengthening of Fe and the increase in work-hardening of Cu contributed to the overall increase in strength and work-hardening rate of the Cu-Fe alloy at low temperatures.
