Study on the variation of properties of Cu-Cr-Zr alloy by different rolling and aging sequence

Jiazhi Li et al.

Summary: The study revealed the relationship between the rolling-aging sequence and the microstructure evolution, mechanical-electrical properties of a hot rolled-quenched Cu-0.67Cr-0.27Zr-0.12Ni-0.03Si-0.04Ti alloy. A good combination of strength and electrical conductivity was achieved in the alloy through a specific aging-rolling-aging process, with strength improvement mainly attributed to dislocation density strengthening.

Enhancing performance of the CuCrZrTiV alloys through increasing recrystallization resistance and two-step thermomechanical treatments

Mingyang Li et al.

Summary: The effects of joint Ti and V addition on the recrystallization behavior, mechanical property and corrosion resistance of CuCrZrTiV alloys were investigated. Results showed that the recrystallization resistance and corrosion resistance of the alloys were significantly improved, and the performance of the alloys was further enhanced by two-step thermomechanical treatments, leading to increased tensile strength and ductility.

Microstructure and properties of Cu-Cr-Zr alloy with columnar crystal structure processed by upward continuous casting

Jinshui Chen et al.

Summary: Columnar crystal structure was formed in the Cu-Cr-Zr alloy during thermo-mechanical treatment, resulting in optimized microstructure and significantly refined grains. The alloy with columnar crystal structure and higher Zr content exhibited improved mechanical properties, while maintaining relatively stable electrical conductivity. The ultimate tensile strength was significantly higher after cold drawing in the alloy with a higher Zr content. Discussions and conclusions were made regarding the grain refinement mechanism and strengthening mechanism.

Structural, electronic, mechanical and thermodynamic properties of Cr-Si binary silicides from first-principles investigations

Y. Pan et al.

Summary: Cr-Si binary silicides are promising advanced functional materials widely used in semiconductors, thermoelectric, and high temperature industries. Structural, mechanical, electronic, and thermodynamic properties of Cr-Si silicides were studied using first-principles. A novel Cr2Si orthorhombic structure was predicted and different silicides showed varying properties, with Cr3Si having larger moduli but Cr2Si exhibiting better ductility and plasticity. These findings provide insight into the comprehensive properties of Cr-Si silicides and guide future improvements in their performance.

Influences of boron contents on microstructures and mechanical properties of as-casted near α titanium alloy

Xiaozhao Ma et al.

Summary: The influences of boron element and its amounts on phase constitutions, microstructures, textures and compression mechanical properties of Ti-6.5Al-2.5Sn-9Zr-0.5Mo-0.25Si-1Nb-1W-0.1Er-xB (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8 wt%) have been carefully studied. It is found that 0.2 wt% boron content is the most appropriate amount for microstructural refinement and mechanical properties enhancement while ensuring plasticity in current near alpha titanium alloys.

Effect of microalloying by Ca on the microstructure and mechanical properties of as-cast and wrought Mg-Mg2Si composites

Mehrab Lotfpour et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of calcium addition and hot extrusion process on the microstructure modification and mechanical properties enhancement of Mg-3Si metal matrix composite. It was found that calcium addition modified the Mg2Si phase and refined the matrix grains, while hot extrusion induced extreme grain refinement and break up of the eutectic structure, leading to remarkable improvements in tensile properties.
