Fibrous scaffold with a tunable nonlinear elasticity

Xin Meng et al.

Summary: Micro/nanofibers have been widely used to mimic collagen type I fibrillary structure, but fabricating the wavy structure of collagen fibers in biological tissues has been challenging. This study developed a universal method to fabricate crimped fibers of different biopolymers by controlling residual stress relaxation for stable nonlinear elasticity. Results show that engineered nonlinear elasticity can be achieved by tuning the crimped structure, with potential applications in repairing tendons and soft connective tissue.

Green Tea Derivative Driven Smart Hydrogels with Desired Functions for Chronic Diabetic Wound Treatment

Xiaodan Zhao et al.

Summary: This study developed a smart hydrogel dressing through copolymerization of catechol groups and epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) with acrylamide, providing adequate mechanical properties, self-healing capability, and tissue adhesiveness. The substantial release of EGCG from the hydrogel enables multiple therapeutic effects, facilitates easy dressing change, and offers a convenient and effective method for the management of chronic diabetic wounds.

bFGF and collagen matrix hydrogel attenuates burn wound inflammation through activation of ERK and TRK pathway

Srijita Chakrabarti et al.

Summary: Hydrogels are considered an important delivery system for wound treatment, with the study showing that bFGF-collagen-AgSD incorporated hydrogel formulation can accelerate burn healing and promote fibroblast cell proliferation. The developed hydrogel significantly accelerated wound closure by increasing re-epithelialization and granulation tissue formation, indicating its potential as a promising delivery system against second degree burns.
