Mechanical and tribological properties evaluation of plasma-sprayed shape memory alloy coating

B. Swaina et al.

Summary: In this study, Ni-Ti alloy coatings were sprayed on mild steel using atmospheric plasma spray process. The results showed that a stand-off distance of 120 mm led to better mechanical properties such as microhardness and adhesion strength. The stand-off distance significantly influenced the formation of intermetallic compounds in the coatings, thereby affecting the mechanical properties.

In-situ fabrication of Ti2AlNb-based alloy through double-wire arc additive manufacturing

Zixiang Li et al.

Summary: Ti2AlNb-based alloy is expected to replace nickel-based alloy in high-temperature structural applications in aerospace industry due to its high temperature strength, oxidation resistance, and low density. However, the alloy faces challenges such as high-temperature deformation resistance and brittleness. The development of a double-wire arc additive manufacturing technology shows promise in addressing these challenges and improving the alloy's mechanical properties.

Peculiarities of the recoverable strain variation in the NiTi alloy produced by wire arc additive manufacturing

N. Resnina et al.

Summary: The peculiarities of the recoverable strain variation on cooling and heating under stress in NiTi samples produced by wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) were studied. The recoverable strain in the NiTi WAAM sample was three times less than in alloys produced by conventional technology. Sample fracture occurred in the middle part of the second layer during cooling under 400 MPa.

Investigations on NiTi shape memory alloy thin wall structures through laser marking assisted wire arc based additive manufacturing

Shalini Singh et al.

Summary: The study successfully eliminated defects and distortions in thin-wall structures by combining WAAM with pre-surface treatment using laser marking. This improved surface quality and shape memory performance of the fabricated samples, showing potential for fabrication of complex components with thin structures.
