Summary: Pure Ti rods were fabricated by hot extrusion and further processed by rotary swaging in this study. The effects of annealing temperature on the microstructure and mechanical properties were investigated. Annealing at 500 degrees C resulted in a desirable combination of high yield strength and remarkable uniform elongation.

Summary: Heterostructured materials are a novel class of materials with mechanical properties superior to their conventional counterparts. The two most studied heterostructures are grain-size gradient structure and heterolamellar structure, which produce heterogeneous deformation during tensile deformation, enhancing strength and retaining ductility through HDI stress.

Comparison of a low carbon steel processed by Cold Rolling (CR) and Asymmetrical Rolling (ASR): Heterogeneity in strain path, texture, microstructure and mechanical properties

Jairo Alberto Munoz et al.

Summary: The study showed that processing low carbon steel using ASR resulted in a soft curvature and higher strength compared to CR. ASR induced more pronounced changes in dislocation densities and grain size in the surface neighborhoods, while CR exhibited more homogeneous hardness increase throughout the sheet's thickness. High and heterogeneous distributions of geometrically necessary dislocations (GNDs) were found to be responsible for the additional hardening in the ASR material.
