Sargachromenol Purified from Sargassum horneri Inhibits Inflammatory Responses via Activation of Nrf2/HO-1 Signaling in LPS-Stimulated Macrophages

Eui-Jeong Han et al.

Summary: The study isolated sargachromenol (SC) from Sargassum horneri and demonstrated its anti-inflammatory effect on LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages. SC increased cell viability by reducing NO and ROS production, decreased inflammatory cytokines and mediators, suppressed NF kappa B and MAPK signaling, and activated Nrf2/HO-1 signaling. The antioxidant capacity of SC contributes to its anti-inflammatory effect, suggesting its potential application in nutraceutical and pharmaceutical sectors.
