Spatially Restricted Templated Growth of Poly(ε-caprolactone) from Carbon Nanotubes by Crystallization-Driven Self-Assembly

Zaizai Tong et al.

Summary: The design of hybrid hierarchical architectures remains challenging, but the use of crystallization-driven selfassembly methods can help in constructing brushlike structures with controlled shape and size on carbon nanotubes. By anchoring seeds through hydrogen bonding and using in situ CDSA process with added monomers, brushlike heterostructures containing both CNTs and CDSA nanoassemblies were fabricated. The shape of the crystals changed from platelets to long and thin crystals with increasing mass ratios of seed micelles to CNTs.

Uniform 1D Micelles and Patchy & Block Comicelles via Scalable, One-Step Crystallization-Driven Block Copolymer Self-Assembly

Shaofei Song et al.

Summary: By adding a small amount of homopolymer, uniform 1D core-crystalline micelles can be obtained in a single step. The rate of unimer addition is significantly enhanced by the length of the PFS block, allowing for more complex structures to be formed.

Emerging applications for living crystallization-driven self-assembly

Liam MacFarlane et al.

Summary: Crystallization is used as a tool to control the self-assembly of polymeric and molecular amphiphiles in solution, leading to the creation of non-spherical nanoparticles and complex hierarchical assemblies. The living CDSA method allows for predictable size control, access to branched and segmented structures, and has been applied to a wide range of crystallizable polymeric amphiphiles and supramolecular polymerizations.
