Biomineralization of ZrO2 nanoparticles on graphene oxide-supported peptide/cellulose binary nanofibrous membranes for high-performance removal of fluoride ions

Yun Chen et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the design and synthesis of graphene oxide-supported conjugation with cellulose nanofibers and self-assembled peptide nanofibers to form hybrid membranes for efficient water purification. ZrO2 nanoparticles were synthesized along the formed nanofibers to create GO/PNF/CNF-ZrO2 nanohybrids through a biomineralization process, showing high removal efficiency towards fluoride ions. The fabricated nanofibrous filtration membranes exhibit good recyclability and sustainability for continuous adsorption and removal of fluoride ions from water.
