Measuring collagen fibril diameter with differential interference contrast microscopy

Seyed Mohammad Siadat et al.

Summary: Using a combination of DIC microscopy and electron microscopy, researchers established a linear relationship between collagen diameter and DIC edge intensity shift (DIC-EIS). This simple, nondestructive, label-free method allows for accurate measurement of fibril diameter, providing a new tool for studying collagen dynamics.

Method for measurement of collagen monomer orientation in fluorescence microscopy

Rodrigo P. Alzola et al.

Summary: This study investigates the visualization and spatial orientation determination of collagen monomers using fluorescence microscopy; Two methods for detecting and classifying monomers were presented; The results show that it is possible to determine the location and orientation of a single monomer with an error of -37 degrees using fluorescence microscopy.
