When does postural instability appear in monogenic parkinsonisms? An individual-patient meta-analysis

Luca Marsili et al.

Summary: In monogenic parkinsonisms, the onset and progression of postural instability vary among different genotypes, with ATP13A2 having the longest time to onset and SNCA the shortest. Compared to sporadic Parkinson's disease, patients with SNCA and DJ-1 have a higher risk of postural instability, while early-onset PINK1 and female LRRK2 patients have a decreased risk.

Parkinson ? s disease advanced therapies-A systematic review: More unanswered questions than guidance

Luca Marsili et al.

Summary: The study compared device-aided therapies in advanced Parkinson's disease and found that LCIG and DBS were superior to best medical therapy in terms of efficacy, while DBS was the most expensive and CSAI had the lowest lifetime costs. The majority of studies had sponsorship from pharmaceutical or device companies, with only one ongoing clinical trial comparing LCIG with DBS.

Timing matters: Otological symptoms and Parkinson's disease

Abhimanyu Mahajan et al.

Summary: The study found that prodromal otological symptoms may be associated with a reduced risk of motor progression in patients with Parkinson's disease. This suggests that early symptoms may have an impact on the progression of PD.
