Synthesis, evaluation, and kinetic assessment of Co-based catalyst for enhanced methane decomposition reaction for hydrogen production

Mohammed K. Al Mesfer et al.

Summary: This work reports the development and performance evaluation of Co/TiO2-Al2O3 catalysts with different loadings for catalytic methane decomposition to produce pure hydrogen. The Co particles were synthesized on a mixed oxide support using ultrasound-assisted wet impregnation method, and the catalysts were thoroughly characterized. The study showed that the prepared catalysts exhibited high activity and the power-law model successfully described the experimental data with high fitting accuracy.

Summary: This review focuses on the use of different promoters in controlling the deactivation of nickel-based catalysts in the thermocatalytic decomposition of methane (TCD) process and their impact on the formed carbon nanomaterials. By discussing the classification of different promoters and their mechanisms of action in detail, it provides a reference for the design of catalysts for efficient pure hydrogen production and carbon nanomaterials.

Synthesis and optimization of hydrotalcite derived Ni-Fe-Cu based catalysts for catalytic methane decomposition process using the design of experiment approach

Summary: The optimization of hydrotalcite-derived Ni-Fe-Cu-based tri-metallic catalyst for methane catalytic decomposition was studied using the Taguchi method. The results revealed that the catalyst performance and deposited carbon nature depended on the catalyst's composition, with optimal reaction conditions leading to a 30% increase in catalyst performance.
