Three-Dimensional Covalent Organic Framework with ceq Topology

Zonglong Li et al.

Summary: Three-dimensional covalent organic frameworks (3D-COFs) are designable porous materials with unique structural characteristics and porous features. This study introduces a new 3D-COF with the ceq topology, utilizing a D-3h-symmetric triangular prism vertex and a planar triangular linker. The as-synthesized COF shows a twofold-interpenetrated structure with a Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area of 1148.6 m(2) g(-1) and efficient absorption of CO2, CH4, and H2. This work provides new building units and approaches for further exploration of 3D-COFs.

Tuning the Topology of Three-Dimensional Covalent Organic Frameworks via Steric Control: From pts to Unprecedented Ijh

Yang Xie et al.

Summary: This study describes the successful synthesis of two highly crystalline 3D COFs through design, and demonstrates that the topology of the framework can be controlled by steric hindrance via altering substituents. The research highlights the potential for designing 3D COFs with new topology for various applications.

Reticular design and crystal structure determination of covalent organic frameworks

Ha L. Nguyen

Summary: Reticular chemistry of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) focuses on linking discrete organic building units into extended structures through strong covalent bonds. Over the past decade, there has been rapid development in COF chemistry in terms of structural diversity and applications. Understanding the concept of reticular chemistry is essential for researching COFs and correlating their geometric structures and practical applications.
