Semi-analytical model of an acoustic black hole piezoelectric bimorph cantilever for energy harvesting

Jie Deng et al.

Summary: An acoustic black hole termination can enhance the energy harvesting capabilities of a piezoelectric bimorph cantilever. A semi-analytical approach is proposed to characterize performance and allows for efficient parametric analysis of different system configurations. The method is a valuable tool for designing ABH energy harvesting devices.

Active feedforward control of flexural waves in an Acoustic Black Hole terminated beam

J. Cheer et al.

Summary: Acoustic Black Holes (ABHs) are created by introducing a tapering thickness profile into a structure to enhance structural damping and wave absorption. This paper investigates the performance enhancements of replacing passive damping with active vibration control (AVC) in an ABH system. The study demonstrates that the proposed active ABH (AABH) achieves equivalent broadband performance to traditional systems with lower computational requirements and control efforts.

Vibration of cylindrical shells with embedded annular acoustic black holes using the Rayleigh-Ritz method with Gaussian basis functions

Jie Deng et al.

Summary: The study investigates the feasibility of embedding ABHs on curved structures and extends the GEM method to address this issue. The results show that the performance of annular ABHs differs from those on flat surfaces, and waves propagating in the circumferential direction have an impact on the operational frequency range of ABHs.
