Continuous dimethyl carbonate synthesis from CO2 and methanol over BixCe1-xOδ monoliths: Effect of bismuth doping on population of oxygen vacancies, activity, and reaction pathway

Yongdong Chen et al.

Summary: The study evaluated bismuth doped cerium oxide catalysts for continuous dimethyl carbonate (DMC) synthesis and found that bismuth incorporation facilitated controlling oxygen vacancy density, leading to increased DMC production rates. The highest DMC yield was obtained with the Bi0.12Ce0.88O delta catalyst, which showed stable activity over a 45-hour period. In-situ modulation excitation diffuse reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and first-principle calculations revealed that DMC synthesis occurs through reaction of a bidentate carbonate intermediate with activated methoxy species.

Structural and spectroscopic characterizations of boron doped TiO2-CeO2 nanocomposite synthesized by solution combustion technique for photocatalytic applications

Md. Hussain Basha et al.

Summary: In this study, boron doped TiO2-CeO2 (B/TiO2-CeO2) nanocomposite was successfully synthesized using solution combustion technique and characterized using various techniques. The phase transformation from anatase to rutile structure was observed at 700 degrees C, and the nanocomposite showed a porous structure with uniform pore distribution and nanoparticles spread on the surface. Additionally, UV-visible absorption spectra indicated both red shift and blue shift in the absorption edge of the nanocomposite samples.

Enhanced performance of low Pt loading amount on Pt-CeO2 catalysts prepared by adsorption method for catalytic ozonation of tolueney

Jialing Wang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that the supported catalyst of Pt-CeO2/BEA with low loading amount of Pt nanoparticles exhibited competitive activity towards catalytic ozonation of toluene. Enhanced Pt-CeO2 strong metal-support interaction, smaller and more uniform Pt nanoparticles formation, and increased oxygen vacancies and peroxide species were found to potentially contribute to the improved catalytic performance. Plausible reaction pathways for the involving reactions on catalyst surface were proposed based on in-situ Raman analysis.

NO reduction with CO over CuOx/CeO2 nanocomposites: influence of oxygen vacancies and lattice strain

Quanquan Shi et al.

Summary: CuOx/CeO2 catalysts were prepared by depositing CuOx clusters onto ceria nanoparticles with different morphologies and were evaluated for NO reduction with CO. The catalytic performance depended strongly on the morphology of the support, with nanorods and nanopolyhedra showing the best performance. Oxygen vacancy defects played a crucial role in the reaction mechanism, with ceria polyhedra catalyst exhibiting the best performance in converting NO and CO to N-2.
