Asymptotic radiative transfer is used to study the e-folding depth and light penetration distance for pure snow, with approximate equations derived for weakly absorbing snow layers. The results obtained are valid for optically thick snow layers.
The asymptotic radiative transfer is used to study the e-folding depth and light penetration distance for pure snow. Approximate equations are derived both for the e-folding and penetration depths of weakly absorbing snow layers. The derived results are valid for optically thick snow layers. (c) 2021 Elsevier Ltd.
