By modifying zinc oxide with zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZnO@ZIF-8) in methanol solution, a zinc anode with a rough surface is created, showcasing improved cycling properties. The insulating properties of ZIF-8 increase corrosion potential and reduce corrosion current, while its nanochannels and N species provide zincophilic sites for homogeneous deposition, inhibiting dendrite formation. After 1150 cycles, the ZnO@ZIF-8 anode retains 90% of its initial capacity, highlighting excellent cycle performance.
To improve the cycling properties of zinc anodes, zinc oxide modified with zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZnO@ZIF-8) with a rough surface is synthesized by in-situ growth in the methanol solution. On the one hand, The inherent insulativity of ZIF-8 significantly increases the corrosion potential and reduces the corrosion current, which alleviates hydrogen evolution, realizing high coulombic efficiency; On the other hand, well ordered nanochannels and N species of ZIF-8 provide zincophilic sites for zinc deposition, allowing homogeneous deposition on the surface, thereby inhibiting the formation of dendrites. Consequently, after 1150 cycles, The ZnO@ZIF-8 anode still retains its capacity of 536 mAh.g(-1), which is 90% of the initial capacity (596 mAh.g(-1)), suggesting excellent cycle performance.
