Ecology of Diaporthe eres, the causal agent of hazelnut defects

Roberta Arciuolo et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effect of different abiotic factors on Diaporthe eres, with findings suggesting optimal temperatures for growth and development, as well as the importance of water activity for the fungal life cycle. The fitted data using nonlinear regression functions could be the basis for developing a predictive model for hazelnut infection by D. eres.

Neocosmospora spp. associated with dry root rot of citrus in South Africa

Vladimiro Guarnaccia et al.

Summary: Citrus is one of the most important fruit crops cultivated in South Africa, with dry root rot being a common disease in major citrus production areas internationally. Multiple Neocosmospora species were isolated from citrus trees affected by dry root rot in South Africa, with 11 species identified overall and four new species described. N. citricola, N. ferruginea, and N. solani were among the most commonly isolated species.
