Inhibition of the aflatoxin-producing fungus Aspergillus flavus by a plasma jet system

Summary: This study investigated the effects of a plasma jet system on the growth of Aspergillus flavus, finding that it could inhibit the growth by destroying cell walls, oxidizing lipids and cell membranes. However, to increase the inhibition distance, more power, longer exposure, and increased gas flow may be needed. Further studies will assess the application of this technology to real foods and industrial products.

Effect of Nitric Oxide on Seed Germination and Seedling Development of Tomato Under Chromium Toxicity

Summary: Nitric oxide (NO) serves as a signaling molecule with various physiological functions, improving plant immunity against different environmental stresses. In the presence of hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) stress, NO enhances seed germination parameters, upregulates the activity of hydrolyzing enzymes, and increases the content of non-protein thiols, ascorbate, and glutathione while suppressing protein carbonylation and electrolyte leakage. This ultimately leads to enhanced seed germination and seedling vigor under Cr(VI) toxicity conditions.

By using a full factorial design with center points and blocking, an optimal parameter setting was identified for nitrogen solution generation, resulting in promising results for hydroponic vegetable growth with green oak lettuce.
