Synthesis of CuO/Bi2O3nanocomposite for efficient and recycling photodegradation of methylene blue dye

Fatemeh Poorsajadi et al.

Summary: In this study, the efficiency of CuO/Bi(2)O(3) nanocomposite for photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue dye in water was investigated. The results showed that dye degradation was higher at acidic pH and with a catalyst content of 0.2 g/l, while it decreased with increasing initial dye concentration. The photocatalyst also demonstrated good stability after multiple reuse cycles.

TiO2-beta-Bi2O3 junction as a leverage for the visible-light activity of TiO2 based catalyst used for environmental applications

Gregor Zerjav et al.

Summary: Solution combustion synthesis was used to create a junction between TiO2 and beta-Bi2O3, enhancing the photocatalytic activity in degrading BPA under visible and UV-light. Analysis of the composites and degradation performance indicated that beta-Bi2O3 acts as a photosensitizer for TiO2, while an excess of beta-Bi2O3 may reduce catalytic activity. The discrepancy between EPR measurements and catalytic BPA degradation tests can be attributed to different mechanisms involving direct or indirect interactions with photo-generated charge carriers.

Bi/SnO2/TiO2-graphene nanocomposite photocatalyst for solar visible light-induced photodegradation of pentachlorophenol

Mohammad Hossein Sayadi et al.

Summary: A TiO2/graphene (G) heterostructure doped with Bi and SnO2 nanoparticles was synthesized and used for photocatalytic degradation of pentachlorophenol (PCP) under visible light irradiation. The nanocomposite showed promising photodegradation efficiency due to the generation of active radicals. Optimizing parameters such as pH, catalyst dosage, and PCP concentration improved the photocatalytic activity.

Interfacial and electronic band structure optimization for the adsorption and visible-light photocatalytic activity of macroscopic ZnSnO3/ graphene aerogel

Shuying Dong et al.

Summary: The macroscopic monolithic ZnSnO3/reduced graphene oxide aerogel (ZGA) composite exhibited excellent adsorption and visible-light photocatalytic degradation activity for ciprofloxacin (CIP) wastewater, with 100% removal efficiency achieved when the mass ratio of ZnSn(OH)6 to graphene oxide (GO) was 1:2 (ZGA-4). The enhanced photoactivity of ZGA was attributed to optimized interfacial and electronic band structures reducing recombination of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. Additionally, ZGA showed satisfactory photostability and eliminated 98% of CIP and the biological toxicity of CIP to Escherichia coli DH5a after four-cycle photocatalytic degradation.
