Formation and crystallization behavior of Fe-based amorphous precursors with pre-existing α-Fe nanoparticles-Structure and magnetic properties of high-Cu-content Fe-Si-B-Cu-Nb nanocrystalline alloys

Yanhui Li et al.

Summary: The structure, crystallization behavior, and magnetic properties of Fe81.3Si4B13Cu1.7 alloy ribbons were studied, as well as the effects of Nb alloying. High-density Cu-clusters and Pre-existing Nano-sized alpha-Fe Particles were found in the amorphous matrix, and the number densities of these clusters were gradually reduced with Nb enrichment. Nb alloying also affected the average size of alpha-Fe grains after annealing, with 4 at.% Nb refining the grains to 8.9 nm. Mechanisms of alpha-Fe nucleation and growth during quenching and annealing were discussed, and a coercivity correlation with alpha-Fe was found, with permeability inversely related to coercivity.

Novel Fe-C-B-P-Cu nanocrystalline alloys with superb magnetic properties and processability

Yuluo Li et al.

Summary: This article presents a new type of Fe-C-B-P-Cu nanocrystalline alloy with high P content, showing excellent magnetic properties and processability. Increasing the phosphorus content can effectively lower the coercivity, resulting in better soft magnetic properties. The relationship between microstructure and soft magnetic properties of this alloy is discussed in detail based on crystallization and structural features.

Improving the glass formation ability and magnetic properties by Nb in Fe-Si-B-P-Cu-Nb nanocrystalline alloys

Z. X. Dou et al.

Summary: Fe-based nanocrystalline alloys with high saturation flux density are desired for electronic device miniaturization, but improvements in glass forming ability and annealing temperature window are needed for industrial production. This study comprehensively investigated the influence of Nb on the properties of Fe-Si-B-P-Cu-Nb alloys, finding that Nb plays a critical role in crystalline processing optimization. Nb refinement of alpha-Fe (Si) grains led to reduced coercivity and comparable soft magnetic properties to NANOPERM alloys in Fe82.3Si1.3B8.9P3Cu0.5Nb4 ribbon.

Design of Fe-based nanocrystalline alloys with superior magnetization and manufacturability

Hu Li et al.

Summary: A revolutionary nanostructure design concept was proposed in this study to improve the magnetic properties of Fe-based alloys by preforming dense nuclei and refining nano-structure via transient metalloid-rich interfaces. A novel alloy composition with superior magnetic properties was developed using only 4.6 wt.% light metalloids, showing great potential as a substitute for commercial bulk Si-steels in soft-magnetic applications.
