Summary: Patients with DAG-G tend to be older than typical IDH-mutant diffuse astrocytoma patients, have tumors that are more diffuse with focal deficits, and experience significantly shorter overall survival.

Efficacy of Whole-Ventricular Radiotherapy in Patients Undergoing Maximal Tumor Resection for Glioblastomas Involving the Ventricle

Kyung Hwan Kim et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effectiveness of whole-ventricular radiotherapy (WVRT) in reducing intraventricular seeding in patients with glioblastoma (GBM). It found that WVRT can reduce the intraventricular failure rate, especially in high-risk patients or those with MGMT-unmethylated GBM. Further prospective evaluation of WVRT in GBM is warranted.

Glioblastoma Proximity to the Lateral Ventricle Alters Neurogenic Cell Populations of the Subventricular Zone

Luisina B. Ripari et al.

Summary: A novel rodent model was used to analyze the bidirectional signaling between GBM tumors and cells within the subventricular zone (SVZ). The study found that GBM tumors located close to the lateral ventricles show increased tumor growth, decreased median survival, and negatively influence the neurogenic and cell division process of the SVZ in adult mice. This model will be invaluable for further investigation into the interactions between GBM and the neurogenic cell populations of the SVZ.
