The manuscript reports the synthesis of a new Schiff base compound and its unique properties, showing potential biological activity with excellent antifungal and antibacterial activities when compared to standard drugs.
The manuscript report the synthesis of a new Schiff base from sulfanilamide and 3,5-diiodosalicylaldehyde which showed some unique properties. The synthesized compound was analysed using various spectral tools like FTIR, (HNMR)-H-1 and UV-VIS and compared with simulated results, which showed high correlation. Being a new compound, detailed vibrational assignment on scaled spectrum has been reported. Frontier orbital studies indicated that compound is reactive in nature which was affirmed by NBO delcocalisation energy data. Drug likeness property showed potentially biological activity and PASS analysis predicts the binding towards structurally dynamic N-terminal region drives dunction of the Staphylococcal peroxidase, this was confirmed by the molecular docking results which predicted the docking score as -7.7 kcal/mol on the enzyme. This activity was experimentally verified by the analysis of antibacterial and antifungal activity of which the compound shows excellent antifungal activity when compared to the standard anti-fungal drug Nystatiin and anti-bacterial activity when compared with the standard drug Ciprofloxacin.
