NOO-type tridentate Schiff base ligand and its one-dimensional Cu(II) coordination polymer: Synthesis, crystal structure, biomacromolecular interactions and radical scavenging activities

Duygu Inci et al.

Summary: In this study, N-salicylidene-2-amino-5-chlorobenzoic acid (H2L) and its Cu(II) coordination polymer were synthesized and characterized, with their interactions with biomacromolecules investigated. The results indicated that the mode of binding with DNA and protein differed between the two compounds, with the Cu(II) coordination polymer showing superior activity in biomacromolecules interaction and radical scavenging compared to the free H2L Schiff base ligand.

Summary: A new Schiff base compound AD2Me was synthesized and characterized using various techniques including single crystal X-ray diffraction, NMR spectroscopy. The crystal structure and molecular properties of AD2Me were verified by density functional theory calculations. The antibacterial activity testing indicated that the compound showed no significant activity against two bacterial strains.

Summary: Two Schiff base compounds were synthesized and characterized using spectroscopic methods, with compound 1 showing better optical properties and being a better candidate for the development of nonlinear optical materials. The structural and electronic properties of the compounds were examined using computational methods, and the calculated transitions were found to be in reasonable agreement with experimental results.
