Hybrid structure of ionic liquid and ZnO nano clusters for potential application in dye-sensitized solar cells

These composites significantly improved the charge transfer in the device and led to enhanced power conversion efficiency.

Solvent assisted evolution and growth mechanism of zero to three dimensional ZnO nanostructures for dye sensitized solar cell applications

Summary: The engineering of ZnO nanostructures was achieved through a consistent solution method using different solvents, with growth kinetics depending on solvent properties and zeta potential. ZnO nanoflower as a photoanode material in DSSCs displayed structure-dependent efficiency, with higher conversion efficiency compared to other structures. The superior performance of ZnO nanoflower was attributed to its better light-harvesting ability and increased resistance to charge-recombination, showing promising potential as an alternative to TiO2 in DSSCs.

A photoanode with hierarchical nanoforest TiO2 structure and silver plasmonic nanoparticles for flexible dye sensitized solar cell

Summary: The study presents an improved photoanode with hierarchical microstructure of photoactive TiO2, along with the deposition of plasmonic nanoparticle Ag using photoreduction method. The branched structure of the photoanode increases dye loading, while Ag nanoparticles play multiple roles in enhancing light-to-current conversion efficiency. This novel design shows remarkably higher photon conversion efficiency compared to traditional structures.

Synthesis of metal free organic dyes: Experimental and theoretical approach to sensitize one-dimensional cadmium sulphide nanowires for solar cell application

Summary: Metal-free organic dyes PDR and PDP based on the phenothiazine core unit were successfully synthesized and anchored onto one dimensional cadmium sulphide nanowires for dye sensitized solar cell applications. Optical and electrochemical studies showed that the synthesized dyes have wider light absorption compared to bare CdS in the visible spectrum, leading to higher efficiency in solar cells. The use of novel synthesized organic dyes as light harvesters was demonstrated successfully in this study.
