Pristine, Reduced, and Alkylated Graphene Oxide as Additives to Paraffin Grease for Enhancement of Tribological Properties

Sooraj Singh Rawat et al.

Summary: Adding graphene oxides to paraffin grease can enhance the lubricating properties for steel tribo-pair. The loose fiber network formed in the presence of graphene-based additive facilitates efficient lubrication by allowing easy release of soap. Reduced graphene oxide with an interlamellar distance of 0.35 nm exhibits minimum resistance to shear and reduces the coefficient of friction in the grease.

Evaluation of tribological performance of copper-based composites containing nano-structural 2D materials and their hybrid

Hemant Nautiyal et al.

Summary: The current investigation focuses on evaluating and comparing the tribological performance of Cu-based composites with different 2D layered materials, as well as exploring the role of electronic work function in affecting the tribological properties. Results suggest that the friction and antiwear properties of composites are influenced by various factors, including the lubrication properties of reinforcement fillers and the interfacial interaction with the copper matrix. This study is expected to pave the way for developing hybrid 2D materials as potential solid lubricants for metal-based self-lubricating composites with enhanced tribological performance.
