Molecular dynamics studies for enhancing the anticancer drug efficacy: Toward designing a new carbon nanotube-based paclitaxel delivery system

Summary: This study investigated the interactions between drug molecules and SWCNT nano-carriers through all-atom molecular dynamics simulations. The results showed exothermic and spontaneous adsorption of PTX molecules onto pristine and modified SWCNTs, with pi-pi stacking interactions explaining the proper drug adsorption. Differences in drug binding and molecular arrangements were identified among the different functionalized nano-carriers, highlighting the impact of functional groups on drug delivery effectiveness.
