Influence of Nanoparticles on the Evaporation of a Nanodroplet from Solid Substrates: An Experimental and Molecular Dynamics Investigation

V. Arun Kumar et al.

Summary: Experimental and molecular dynamic simulations were used to study the evaporative behavior of liquid droplets in the presence of nanoparticles. It was found that droplets with higher density nanoparticles exhibit pinned behavior and promote pattern formation during evaporation. The simulations also suggest that higher nanoparticle-liquid interaction strengths lead to a delay in evaporation while experiencing higher heat flux on the substrate.

Influence of Trapezoidal Cavity on the Wettability of Hydrophobic Surface: A Molecular Dynamics Study

Pengyu Wang et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the upper width and depth of the cavities on hydrophobic surfaces have diverse effects on the contact state and contact angle of water droplets. Interestingly, while both the upper width and depth collectively promote the transition of droplets from Wenzel state to Cassie state, their individual effects on the contact angle are opposite. Additionally, the increase in base angle of the cavities can significantly delay the transition from Cassie state to Wenzel state.
