Summary: A droplet-based differential microcalorimetric system was developed to monitor the energy balance of Paramecium caudatum in real-time. The study revealed that the defensive behavior of Paramecium consumed approximately 0.75 mJ of energy per cell, with a dissipated power of around 303.8 µW.
