Structural properties, linear, and non-linear optical parameters of ternary Se80Te(20-x)Inx chalcogenide glass systems

Saeid M. Elkatlawy et al.

Summary: Ternary chalcogenide glass films Se80Te(20-x)Inx were synthesized via fast quenching of melts. The amorphous nature of the films was confirmed by DSC and XRD analysis. Inclusion of indium in the glass matrix increased refractive index and resulted in wide transmission window in visible and near IR regions. The films show potential applications in IR waveguides and sensors based on their optical parameters.

Influence of exchanging CeO2 with Cu2O3 on structural matrix, shielding, and linear/nonlinear optical parameters of the cerium-sodium borate

Hosam M. Gomaa et al.

Summary: This study examines how substituting lanthanide oxide with transition metal oxide affects the structural matrix, shielding parameters, and optical properties of sodium borate glass. Results indicate that samples with equal concentrations of CeO2 and Cu2O3 have the highest optical bandgaps and lowest Urbach's energy among the studied samples.

Structure-property relationship and spectroscopic studies of BaO-B2O3 oxide glasses containing ZnO for optical applications

Saeid M. Elkatlawy et al.

Summary: In this study, barium borate glasses containing different molar ratios of ZnO were prepared, and their structural and optical properties were investigated. The results confirmed the incorporation of Zn atoms as ZnO4 units in the glass matrix, and the presence of ZnO in tetrahedral interstitial sites. The UV absorption studies revealed a blue shift in the absorption peak with increasing ZnO content. The optical dielectric parameter studies showed a shortening of the relaxation time with increasing ZnO content.

Impact of graphite impurities on the structure and optical properties of the sodium borate oxide glass

Hosam M. Gomaa et al.

Summary: The study investigated the fabrication process of carbon-based glass by adding varying amounts of pure graphite powder to sodium tetraborate oxide, resulting in amorphous structures confirmed by XRD and SEM. FTIR spectroscopy showed C-atoms shared in the glass network, while UV-Vis analysis revealed changes in optical properties with increasing graphite impurities, indicating potential wide-scale applications.

Effect of Ag2O addition on structural and optical characteristics of B2O3-Bi2O3-Na2O-Nb2O5 oxide glass

Hosam M. Gomaa et al.

Summary: In this work, bismuth-niobium based sodium borate glass was modified by incorporating Ag2O additives. X-ray diffraction analysis indicated the amorphous nature of the materials and the addition of Ag2O did not affect structural phases. The study showed a transition in the role of Bi2O3 from glass network modifier to glass network former, and the addition of Ag2O led to an increase in structural ordering.

New approach to removal of hazardous Bypass Cement Dust (BCD) from the environment: 20Na2O-20BaCl2-(60-x)B2O3-(x)BCD glass system and Optical, mechanical, structural and nuclear radiation shielding competences

A. I. Elazaka et al.

Summary: This study focused on the removal of Bypass Cement Dust (BCD) from the environment by investigating glass systems with varying compositions. The results showed that as the BCD fraction increased, the shielding properties of the glasses improved, along with an increase in optical conductivity. Furthermore, the hardness of the glasses was found to increase gradually with the addition of BCD content.

Optical and structural studies of some zinc calcium borate glasses for optoelectronic device applications

Hosam M. Gomaa et al.

Summary: Samples of bismuth borate glasses were prepared by the melt-quenching method with different molar ratios of B2O3, ZnO, CaO, and Bi2O3. Structural analysis using X-ray diffraction showed homogeneous glassy nature in each sample. Optical absorption assessment indicated that the introduction of zinc and calcium oxides increased glass transparency for UV radiation while decreasing certain optical and optoelectronic properties.

Exploring the FTIR, Optical and Nuclear Radiation Shielding Properties of Samarium-Borate Glass: A Characterization through Experimental and Simulation Methods

Shams A. M. Issa et al.

Summary: The study focused on the impact of adding various amounts of Samarium (III) oxide to the (Tl2O3)(30)-(Li2O)(10)-(B2O3) glass system. It was found that the glass samples with Samarium (III) oxide had increased permeability and enhanced shielding capacity, with shielding parameters dependent on the Samarium (III) oxide content. Additionally, the addition of Samarium (III) oxide greatly reinforced the glass samples' shielding capacity against gamma photons.
