Summary: The temperature-dependent passivation kinetics and surface film chemistry of 254SMO stainless steel in the simulated desulfurized flue gas condensates in the thermal power plant chimney are investigated. The steel provides an acceptable resistance to the attack of the flue gas, forming a mixed oxide/hydroxide film with oxidized Cr and FeII compounds at high temperatures.

Study of the corrosion behaviour of sensitized 904L austenitic stainless steel in Cl- solution

Summary: By using EPMA and TEM, it was found that there is a corrosion-sensitized zone around the grain boundary of high-nickel austenitic stainless steel 904L, with no significant element segregation, and the presence of sigma phase near the grain boundary.
