Swarming Microdroplets to a Dexterous Micromanipulator

Summary: Inspired by viscoelastic fire ant aggregations, researchers have developed a strategy to trigger ferrofluid droplets into forming microswarms with both liquid-like and solid-like behaviors, allowing the microrobotic swarm to be a mobile dexterous micromanipulator in various environments. This reconfigurable microswarm can adaptively navigate multiple terrains and grasp targeted objects, presenting novel solutions for a variety of applications.
