Preparation of composite-layered structure of TiO2 nanoparticles/TiO2 nanotubes and its role in dye sensitized solar cell

Muhammad Ubaidullah et al.

Summary: The composite layered structure of TiO2 nanoparticles (TiNPs) and TiO2 nanotubes (TiNTs) prepared by anodizing and spin coating demonstrates improved performance in DSSC. The penetration of spin-coated nanoparticles into nanotube structures, combined with enhanced light scattering and optimized photovoltaic properties, synergistically enhance the efficiency of the device.

Impact of TiO2 Nanostructures on Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells Performance

Pawel Gnida et al.

Summary: The impact of various TiO2 nanostructures on the properties of photoanodes and the photovoltaic parameters of dye-sensitized solar cells was investigated. It was found that the addition of nanotubes to the photoanode resulted in the highest UV-Vis absorption, indicating a higher number of sensitizer molecules anchored to the titanium dioxide. This led to the highest power conversion efficiency in the solar cells containing nanotubes and a mixture of dyes with a co-adsorbent.

Advanced research trends in dye-sensitized solar cells

Mikko Kokkonen et al.

Summary: This paper reviews the recent progress in DSSC research to achieve high photovoltaic efficiency and performance stability under typical indoor conditions by developing new device structures, alternative redox shuttles, solid-state hole conductors, TiO2 photoelectrodes, catalyst materials, and sealing techniques. It proposes a scalable cell fabrication process that integrates these developments to a new monolithic cell design based on several features. Finally, the need to design new stability testing protocols to assess the probable deployment of DSSCs in portable electronics and internet-of-things devices is discussed.
