A receptor-like protein from Nicotiana benthamiana mediates VmE02 PAMP-triggered immunity

Summary: This study identified a new receptor-like protein RE02 in Nicotiana benthamiana that mediates immune responses to the PAMP VmE02 from phytopathogenic fungus Valsa mali. RE02 interacts with VmE02 and requires complex formation with receptor-like kinases SOBIR1 and BAK1 for perception. Silencing of RE02 increases plant susceptibility to pathogens, while overexpression enhances resistance.
