Fate and transport of bromide and mononuclear aromatic hydrocarbons in aqueous solutions through Berea Sandstone

Steven P. Labrecque et al.

Summary: The miscible displacement tests on Berea Sandstone revealed a high level of heterogeneity among sorption sites and different transport behaviors between bromide and MAHs. A one-dimensional flow model was used to aptly model the breakthrough curves, showing a mixture of instantaneous equilibrium and rate-limited reversible sorption sites. Strong correlations were found between the chemical parameters of MAHs and their retardation factors, sorption coefficients, and fraction of instantaneous equilibrium.

Constraining probabilistic chloride mass-balance recharge estimates using baseflow and remotely sensed evapotranspiration: the Cambrian Limestone Aquifer in northern Australia

Russell S. Crosbie et al.

Summary: This paper describes a method to constrain the uncertainty in regional groundwater recharge estimates, successfully reducing the uncertainty by nearly a third. The spatial distribution of recharge was primarily influenced by rainfall distribution, but was comparatively reduced in areas with denser vegetation or finer textured soils.
